About Us
This is more than a course. It’s your blueprint for becoming the planner you were meant to be
Welcome to The Purple Print—where passion meets professionalism, and purpose shapes every plan. We’re here to equip a new generation of event planners with not just skills, but with systems, structure, and the heart to lead with excellence.
Our Story
The Purple Print was born from a simple but powerful desire, to share what years of real-world experience have taught us about planning events with excellence and heart. After over a decade of creating unforgettable celebrations through Purple Twirl Events, our founder Abokuma Ellis saw a growing need for structured, practical event education, especially in Africa, where the industry is vibrant but still emerging professionally.
Through years of in-person trainings, mentorship, and masterclasses, one thing became clear: people were hungry not just for inspiration, but for guidance. They wanted systems, confidence, and a roadmap.
That’s what The Purple Print is, a blueprint for building a lasting, impactful event planning career. It’s where passion meets process, creativity meets clarity, and purpose meets professionalism.
A Note from the Founder
When I started Purple Twirl over 15 years ago, I had no idea it would grow into what it is today, a brand built on trust, creativity, and excellence. Along the way, I met so many talented, passionate people who wanted to plan events professionally but didn’t know where to start. I saw myself in them. That same drive. That same love for creating beauty and connection.
But also, that same uncertainty about structure, systems, and where to begin. The Purple Print was created for you, the dreamer, the doer, the planner who wants to build something lasting. Here, you’ll learn not just how to plan events, but how to think, lead, and grow like a true professional.
So, whether you’re starting from scratch or scaling your next big idea, I’m cheering you on and I can’t wait to see what you create.

Meet Your Instructor
Abokuma Ellis is the founder of The Purple Print and the creative force behind Purple Twirl Events, a premier event planning company known for orchestrating elevated experiences across Ghana and internationally.
With over 15 years of industry experience, Abokuma has planned everything from intimate luxury weddings to large-scale corporate events and milestone celebrations. Her meticulous approach to planning, commitment to excellence, and warm client-focused philosophy have made her a sought-after planner and educator in the events industry.
Before launching Purple Twirl Events, Abokuma’s path wasn’t the most conventional. After earning a BSc in Botany with a major in Microbiology, she briefly worked in a lab before realizing her heart was elsewhere. She had helped friends plan their weddings casually, but it sparked something bigger. That experience, coupled with her natural knack for improving things and making experiences better, led her to explore event planning—and from there, her passion took root and grew into a full-fledged business. This diverse background gave her a unique perspective on event management, client relations, and the business of planning that deeply informs her teaching approach today.
As an educator, Abokuma is known for her practical, straightforward teaching style that demystifies event planning and makes professional techniques accessible to planners at every level. She’s passionate about raising standards within the industry and empowering planners to build sustainable, profitable businesses grounded in purpose and integrity.

What Makes Us Different
Real-world Structure, Not Just Theory
Everything we teach comes from actual event experiences—the weddings we’ve planned, the corporate events we’ve executed, the destination celebrations we’ve orchestrated. You’re learning proven systems that have been tested in the field, refined through experience, and designed to work in real-world scenarios.
When we share a client communication template, it’s one we’ve used hundreds of times. When we teach you how to create a timeline, it’s based on events we’ve actually managed. Nothing theoretical, nothing untested.
Rooted in Purpose, Not Hype
The event industry can sometimes focus too much on aesthetics and trends while neglecting the substance that makes planning sustainable and meaningful. We believe in teaching you how to plan with intention, excellence, and integrity—qualities that build lasting reputations and businesses that stand the test of time.
We won’t promise you’ll book 10 clients in your first month or that you’ll be planning celebrity weddings by next year. Instead, we promise to equip you with the foundations that make such growth possible when combined with your dedication and hard work.
Global-Ready. African-Born.
The Purple Print brings a grounded, Ghanaian-grown perspective to event planning education while ensuring everything we teach works internationally. Our systems and approaches have been field-tested across different cultures, markets, and price points.
Whether you’re planning elegant weddings in Lagos, corporate events in London, or destination celebrations in Accra, the principles, processes, and professionalism we teach translate seamlessly across borders.
Warm, Not Intimidating
We speak to you like a trusted mentor—clear, kind, and practical. There’s no gatekeeping, no industry jargon designed to confuse, and no ego. Just genuine guidance from someone who’s walked the path before you.
The event industry needs more collaboration and fewer barriers. That’s why our teaching style focuses on clarity, encouragement, and actionable advice you can implement immediately.
